How Many Vents are Needed for a 30-foot Boat Shrink Wrap?

To ensure your vessel is properly protected during winter storage, experts recommend a specific number of marine shrink wrap vents based on the size of the boat. These vents are crucial for creating cross-flow ventilation to prevent condensation, mold, and mildew.

For a 30-foot boat, you should install four vents in total:

  • Two intake vents positioned low on the boat.
  • Two exhaust vents positioned high on the opposite side.

For larger vessels over 40 feet, the recommendation increases to three intake and three exhaust vents (six total). In addition to vents, it is recommended to use 1-kg desiccant bags or boat moisture absorbers for mid-size boats (20–30 feet) to trap residual humidity in key areas like the bilge, cabinets, and under seats.
